Beloveds, today I would like to talk to you about “Intercession”, what it is, our part in it and what can happen when we intercede.
God wants us to partner with Him in the establishment of His Kingdom come, His will be done on earth, as it is in heaven in great measure and one way we can join Him in partnership is through Kingdom intercession.
When we come into the presence of the Father repenting of our sins, asking forgiveness for our sins, and receiving forgiveness for our sins, positioned in the blood of Jesus and robed in the righteousness of Jesus, some mighty powerful things take place. We believe we have Jesus’s and all of heaven’s attention as our hearts cry out in intercession! Amen. At these intimate times with the Lord we have literally positioned ourselves as representatives of the Kingdom of God to “stand in the gap” for territories such as Africa, wounded and hurting people, dire circumstance causes, and prayer petitions that only our mighty, prayer-answering God can answer.
The Word tells us in Hebrews 7:24, 25, 26 our Savior, our high priest liveth to make intercesion for us. As Christians it is our responsibility to follow our Lord and Savior’s example and intercede.
Hebrews 7:24-26 (NKJV)
24 But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.
25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
26 For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens;
Let’s look at seven purposes of Intercession:
1. To come to or meet a person for any cause whatever (Rom. 8:27, 34).
Romans 8:27 (NKJV)
27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:34 (NKJV)
34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
2. To plead the cause of others as in a civil court (Is. 59:9-18; I Tim. 2:1).
Isaiah 59:9-19 (NKJV)
9 Therefore justice is far from us, Nor does righteousness overtake us; We look for light, but there is darkness! For brightness, but we walk in blackness!
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, And we grope as if we had no eyes; We stumble at noonday as at twilight; We are as dead men in desolate places.
11 We all growl like bears, And moan sadly like doves; We look for justice, but there is none; For salvation, but it is far from us.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before You, And our sins testify against us; For our transgressions are with us, And as for our iniquities, we know them:
13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD, And departing from our God, Speaking oppression and revolt, Conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
14 Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off; For truth is fallen in the street, And equity cannot enter.
15 So truth fails, And he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Then the LORD saw it, and it displeased Him That there was no justice.
16 He saw that there was no man, And wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.
17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, And was clad with zeal as a cloak.
18 According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay, Fury to His adversaries, Recompense to His enemies; The coastlands He will fully repay.
19 So shall they fear The name of the LORD from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.
1 Timothy 2:1 (NKJV)
1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,
3. To pray for others (Isa. 53:12; Luke 22:44; Rom. 8:26-27; 34, Heb. 7:25)
Isaiah 53:12 (NKJV)
12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.
Luke 22:44 (NKJV)
44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Romans 8:26-27 (NKJV)
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Hebrews 7:25 (NKJV)
25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
4 To vindicate a person or thing (Psalm 35:1; Je. 7:16: 27:18;).
Psalm 35:1 (NKJV)
1 Plead my cause, O LORD, with those who strive with me; Fight against those who fight against me.
Jeremiah 27:18 (NKJV)
18 But if they are prophets, and if the word of the LORD is with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, do not go to Babylon.'
5. To commend others to a person (Rom. 8:26-27).
Romans 8:26-27 (NKJV)
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
6. To furnish any kind of assistance of help (Rom. 8:26-27)
7. To accuse or act against a person in a judicial way (Rom. 11:2; Acts 25:24)
Romans 11:2 (NKJV)
2 God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, To accuse or act against a person in a judicial way (Rom. 11:2; Acts 26:24).
Acts 25:24 (NKJV)
24 And Festus said: "King Agrippa and all the men who are here present with us, you see this man about whom the whole assembly of the Jews petitioned me, both at Jerusalem and here, crying out that he was not fit to live any longer.
Beloveds, intercession is powerful! Never give up! Never quit interceding! Amen.
Let’s look at what the Word of God tells us in Job 22:26-28 about decreeing the Word of God in intercessory prayer before the Almighty.
Job 22:26-28 (NKJV)
26 For then you will have your delight in the Almighty, And lift up your face to God.
27 You will make your prayer to Him, He will hear you, And you will pay your vows.
28 You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.
It is of utmost importance for us to put the Word of God in our mouths, decree the Word and it will be established for us.
Romans 10:8-17 (NKJV)
8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
13 For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!"
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?"
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
How many of you love victory? Putting the Word of God in our mouths, decreeing the Word, speaking the Word out loud instead of our negative circumstances is the key to crossing the Jesus’s victory line in every area of your life, here in Africa and worldwide. If you want to walk in victory, the pathway is to decree the Word and walk in the Word of God in every area of your life. If you put this teaching into practice everyday in your Christian walk, honoring His Word, He will honor you. Amen.
2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)
14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
We are releasing our faith on the Word of God He is going to “show up” and “show out” in your lives and amaze you!
1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV)
9 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV)
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
His Majesty and we love you! Be blessed! Blessed! Blessed! See you in the Spirit interceding . . .
