Look For The Sign Posts By Troy Culp When we are planning a trip the first thing we need to do is to find out where we are going and from where we are starting. We try to find the shortest route even though sometimes is not always the best route as it may have a lot of starts and stops. We could even decide it is the best route. Sometimes the quickest route is not always the best route either. Sometimes a lot of starts and stops are more scenic and there is usually more to see and more to do on a route that takes more time. No matter whether we chose the quickest route or the farthest route we have to make a route and be alert to the possibility of having to make some changes on the way. When we determine the route we need to take, we mark it on a map and keep it handy when traveling to determine where we are, how far we have come and even what is coming up next. When we are traveling on our route we try to find the next town or road we will come to and the way we do that is by sign posts... like the next town is such and such. Then we can look on the map and tell where we are. One thing that is very important is the sign posts. We have to look for the sign posts in everything we do to find out where we are in relation to where we want to go. Even in our relationship with Christ Jesus we need to check out our sign posts and ask ourselves if this is where we want to go and are we on the right road to obtain the goals we want to achieve. We can also use sign posts to know the perfect will of the Lord. Check your sign post at every opportunity to know where you are and where you are going in relation to the Lord Jesus. Even in every day matters of your life such as a relationship with a friend, check out the sign posts. If you have a friend who is encouraging you to do something you know is wrong, that is a sign post. Are you in a relationship that is making you compromise, that is a sign post. We need to get our lives back on track and look for good sign posts to get to the goal of the high calling in Christ Jesus so we can run our race the way the Lord has mapped out our lives. |
