TROY'S TROPHIES
Babe in a Manger
By Troy Culp

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, at this time of year we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We all have the scriptures to refer back to what happened over 2000 years ago. The Old Testament gives so many prophecies about the Lord’s coming and how He would come. It told of a virgin who would give birth to a son, where He would be born and the family line He would be born into. Think about it, wouldn’t you think His Majesty's Son would be born in a palace or with great pomp and circumstance? You would even think His Majesty would have announced the babe’s birth with trumpets and great flashing across the sky. But it didn’t happen that way. Jesus in His simplicity was predestined and preordained to be born in a stable with His birth announcement being announced to shepherds that were busy watching their flocks at night.

Brothers and Sisters, even with the way He was born and who was chosen for the announcement of His birth, He was born and the whole world loves a baby. A baby, an infant, small and helpless and peacefully sleeping. We all have a soft place in our hearts for such a picture as this.

One thing we need to remember is that Jesus did not come into this world to only be born, but He came to die for the sins of us all. It is my prayer that all who read this article have asked forgiveness for the sins they have committed and invited Jesus into their hearts as their personal Lord and Savior (John 3:16)(Romans 10:9). The babe in a manger was a good thing that happened but the main thing we all need to remember is how and why He came and praise God, rejoice He finished His course and died for the sins of this world and is risen and sitting at the right hand of Majesty on high ever living to make intercession for us (Hebrews 1:3; 7:26; 8:1;). Amen. Praise you Jesus!
